Whenever you are facing an error with your Gmail and your Gmail is not working properly on your iPhone then the first thing you should check is your internet connectivity. If there is no problem with your internet and still your Gmail is not working then you may go these troubleshooting methods - 

  1. Force close the Gmail App
  2. Disable restrictions for your Gmail app
  3. Reboot your iPhone 
  4. Install new updates for Gmail
  5. Reset network settings
  6. Uninstall and reinstall the Gmail app

These methods can be used if your Gmail is not working despite the fact that you have a working internet connection.
